General Mills and UNCF partnered with HandsOn Twin Cities to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy by sponsoring a week of volunteer service as an extension of the 27th annual MLK Breakfast, held on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2017.
232 volunteers from 14 corporations came together to celebrate Dr. King’s legacy of service. During the course of the week, volunteers served at 9 Twin Cities nonprofits, in total donating 458 hours of service to our community! This service included packing over 28,000 meals for several organizations dedicated to fighting hunger, crafting 38 fleece blankets for a local shelter, and helping to give a local community center a face lift that could not have happened without the time and talents of volunteer teams.
To everyone involved, thank you for being the difference. We heard time and time again from our affiliates, “We could not have done this without all the help from the extra volunteers.”
