In just one week, 368 Boston Scientific volunteers contributed over 1100 hours of service to 12 different schools and community organizations. Through this volunteerism, employees contributed $24,442.56 to Boston Scientific community partners and the local community. More than 7500 students, women, families and community members are benefiting from these efforts. What a success!
Volunteers worked on a wide variety of projects, including: assembling 30 dressers, moving over 450 pieces of furniture and loading 18 different furniture deliveries. They also completed 4 murals, and improved 8 gardens and playgrounds by removing graffiti, replanting trees and perennials and spreading nearly 50 cubic yards of mulch!
Just in time for back to school, volunteers provided 6 schools with interior and exterior beautification and assisted 32 teachers in preparing their classrooms. Their efforts create a welcoming and safe environment where students are ready to learn.
What a week! HOTC received awesome feedback from the organizations supported by Boston Scientific. Darcy LaPanta of Edgewood Middle School said: “Thank you again for helping at Edgewood. We had our big student/parent picnic on Monday and there were so many positive comments about how nice the building and grounds looked. Students loved the new letters, mural, and outdoor updates. Thank you, thank you, thank you!”
Tim Brown, principal of Palmer Lake Elementary, also had great things to say! “On behalf of the Palmer Lake staff, I want to say THANK YOU for putting in time and energy at our school on August 20. The things you did saved our staff dozens, possibly hundreds, of hours. And when we are all trying to get our rooms ready for Open House and the First Day of School, every hour is precious. Both inside and outside, your efforts are visible and GREATLY appreciated once again. Thank You so much.”
