Hey there ladies and gents!
Lenny Lend-a-Hand here, reporting on my PHENOMENAL trip to the lovely San Francisco, California!
I started my journey off by GOING GREEN (as if I could get any greener), reducing my carbon footprint (or handprint rather), and looking pretty cool in my shades while utilizing public transportation. . .
HOTC staff member Erika and I hopped on the “eat local and Organic” train while indulging in some DELICIOUS food at Chez Panisse. . .mmmmmm!
(I was also kind enough to let her borrow my rockin’ shades)
Then it was time to head off to my trip’s MAIN EVENT, the Amnesty International Conference Youth Summit, held at the University of California-Berkeley!
Boy, did I learn A LOT about international human rights!! Can’t wait to share my newfound wealth of knowledge with all of my great HOTC colleagues!
During my trip, I also took some time to volunteer, of course!
Thanks to HandsOn affiliate HandsOn Bay Area, I got the chance to volunteer at the Canon Barcus Community House where I had a great time playing games with kids who are experiencing homelessness.
This reminded me that at home, St. Paul Project Homeless Connect is just around the corner and I couldn’t be more excited to “Lend-a-Hand!”
After a very eventful couple of days, I decided to take some time to reflect upon my experiences as well as on the many social movements that have taken place in San Francisco throughout the years. . .
Ahh, what a perfect way to end the day.
Peace and Love!
-Lenny
